5/1/20 - It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing yesterday of Key Pen Parks Executive Director Scott Gallacher.
Scott brought remarkable passion, energy and leadership to the park district. Our gratitude for his years of service to Key Pen Parks and the community cannot be adequately expressed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. We ask for your understanding and compassion as we all process this great loss.
Board of commissioners meetings are the second Monday of every month. The public is always encouraged to attend. Meetings take place at 7:30 pm at Volunteer Park. They are often preceded by a study session, which is also open to the public.
Next regular meeting: June 8

Welcome to Key Pen Parks
NOTICE: 5/12/20 - We will keep this at-a-glance park amenity closures/openings chart updated here on our website and on our Facebook page. Click the chart image to enlarge.
We have closed the restrooms at Maple Hollow Park, as well as the gate. However, the public is welcome to park outside the gate and walk in to use the trails.
We understand that outdoor spaces are critical to the mental and physical health of our community, now more than ever as we face social distancing in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus).
We are very sorry, we have closed all Key Pen Parks playgrounds due to COVID-19. Home Park is completely closed. Community members are encouraged to use all trails, but please do not to congregate and follow public health guidance on social distancing and sanitary practices.
The COVID-19 situation is evolving and we at Key Pen Parks are monitoring directions from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department on their recommendations for parks and recreation response.
We'll keep our website and Facebook page current with any park or office closures, event postponements, and other park-related notices as they occur.
Please also note: We are not currently taking shelter reservations at this time.
